University of Montevallo’s President’s Outdoor Scholars Program
The Alabama Black Belt Adventures Association is proud to partner with the University of Montevallo President’s Outdoor Scholars Program to help college students with a desire to pursue careers aimed at protecting and enjoying our natural world.
Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 per student, per year are available to reward current and future students. The grants are good for four years as long as the student maintains a 2.5 grade point average. The scholarships help provide recipients the opportunity to earn a college degree while also taking an active role in preserving our state’s natural resources.
The program includes:
- Conservation and game management.
- Monthly on-campus meetings, lectures and activities related to hunting and fishing techniques and strategies.
- Exploration of careers in outdoor sports and related fields.
- Coursework on outdoors and the environment.
- Preparation of fish and wild game for the table.
- Academic lectures related to sporting and outdoor life.
ALBBAA provides outdoor classroom experiences across the Black Belt region for students in the President’s Outdoor Scholars Program and cooperates with the university to engage large audiences through advertisements for the program throughout the Southeast and across the nation.
